Last year, Hell Gate's reporters fanned out across the five boroughs to broadcast live coverage of the Democratic mayoral primary. It was a bold experiment for a small news organization like ours—but it was so much fun, we ran it back for the general election in November.
Now, with the 2026 Democratic primary just one week away, it's time to put the word out on the street: We back up.
Join us Tuesday, June 23, from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. for another round of Hell Gate's primary election coverage. Watch the livestream on our YouTube channel or embedded right here below!
Once again we'll provide a compelling mixture of expert analysis and field reporting on all the most competitive and consequential races. Some questions we'll be debating:
- Will Brad Lander's massive polling lead hold enough to oust Dan Goldman in NY-10?
- Who'll win the increasingly bitter battle for Nydia Velázquez's NY-7 seat—Claire Valdez, Antonio Reynoso, or Julie Won?
- Can the DSA-backed newcomer Darializa Avila Chevalier give incumbent Adriano Espaillat the boot in NY-13?
- Can Jessica Ramos fend off a challenge from Jessica González-Rojas for State Senate in Queens?
And this time around, we'll be coming to you from our brand new home at Studio H, the Ruth Ann Harnisch studio, with just the right amount of chaos that comes from doing it live.
Watch it at home or out on the town with friends—we'll be announcing a number of watch parties in bars around the city! (Know a bar that wants to hold a watch party? Hit us up at info@hellgatenyc.com.)
We'll see you on the air!
