If it was up to Dan Goldman, Tuesday's NY-10 candidate forum at New York Law School, sponsored by Abundance NY, would have been a full debate with former comptroller Brad Lander. Goldman has, in fact, challenged Lander to seven debates before June's primary. Instead, at Lander's request, the former comptroller had his turn chatting up journalist Ben Max for 40 minutes, then Goldman glumly took the chair.
"I think voters get a lot more out of it when candidates are able to respond to each other," Goldman told the half-full room of somewhat somnolent voters who were interested in a pre-9 a.m. conversation. "That says a lot about where the two of us are in our campaigns."
