On Wednesday night, the absence of two significant candidates hung over a mayoral forum held by the influential public employee union DC 37.
Mayor Eric Adams, who was originally slated to attend, bowed out at the last minute, blaming both his attorney and the absence of candidates "who are in the shadows."
Adams punking out of the event led to this nice moment when DC 37 members, some of whom wore T-shirts that read "Adams RESIGN," booed him as union head Henry Garrido read out a short statement from the mayor.
The other missing candidate was Andrew Cuomo, whose allies just formed a super PAC and whose formal campaign could kick off as early as this Sunday. The candidates on stage took shots at both men.
