Stop us if you've heard this one before, but in just a few weeks, New Yorkers are going to cast their votes in the 2025 mayoral election, and come January, someone new will get the keys to Gracie Mansion. We've spent a lot of the past year covering the race to City Hall on our website; in our weekly Mayoral Spew newsletter; and last but certainly not least, on our podcast.
And for one of the last episodes of the Hell Gate Podcast before November 4, we're not only doing a live taping, we have a special guest: Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani.
On Friday, October 24, just over a week before Election Day, we'll be sitting down with Mamdani for an hour of conversation in front of a live audience at the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, co-presented by the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY. We'll talk with the candidate about his journey from being a somewhat obscure state lawmaker to an internationally known socialist hailed by many as the savior of the Democratic Party, how he'd deliver on his campaign promises as mayor, and a bunch of other trenchant as well as amusing topics we don't want to give his team any hints about in this promotional copy.
The live event is already sold out—only our Believers and Supporters got the chance to snag a free ticket, one of the perks of being a subscriber at those levels—but the podcast episode will drop shortly after, as well as a special video edition that will be available on our YouTube channel, if that's what you're into. (Believers and Supporters who didn't manage to grab a seat can also join the waitlist here in case space frees up.) If you want to listen to the episode right when it's fresh out of the oven, subscribe to the Hell Gate Podcast here, or wherever you get your podcasts.
And if you want a shot at snagging future tickets to cool events like this, subscribe at the Believer or Supporter tier today! Not only will you get full access to Hell Gate's reporting, you'll also receive early or free access to launch parties, movie screenings, concerts (both indoor and outdoor), forums, readings, holiday parties, and more. (Believers also get Hell Gate swag every year.) Seriously, our events keep getting better and better. Don't miss out on all the fun!
