You can go on the most awesome pizza crawl in literally the entire world these days on a small patch of the West Village. Bangers abound down here in TriBeChris (the "triangle below Christopher," a micro-neighborhood I just made up), starting with the one-two punch of contemporary champs L'Industrie and Mama's Too, then moving on to pizza legends such as John's and Joe's.
Let me ask you something though: Do you like waiting on line? Because that's what will greet you at all four of the all-stars above. They're worth it, for sure (for the most part). But the love these places get from legions of out-of-towners make them ill-suited for a quick-bite scenario.

Which is one of the reasons why I'm grateful for the spanking new Slicehaus Pizzeria, which opened this month on prime Carmine Street and, so far, functions as a proper slice joint should, in that you can walk right up and get some food by pointing at the pies in the case and then wolf it at a counter or high-top right away.
