This election season, two state assemblymembers from Queens are vying for citywide office. One of them is using a powerful field game and social media savvy to vault to second place in the mayor's race.
The other? Well, it's been a rough week for public advocate candidate Jenifer Rajkumar. (No, you're not imagining things—until January, Rajukmar was running for comptroller.)
Despite raising more than $1.7 million in donations, with $1.4 million still on hand, it appears Rajkumar's campaign has not really been able to take off. A poll released this week showed Rajkumar at just 6 percent, 45 points behind the incumbent, Public Advocate Jumaane Williams.
Williams, who is endorsed by every major union as well as a ton of local elected officials, has managed to raise $1.4 million himself, and has a million dollars still on hand. The social media feeds for Williams campaign don't have a ton on them—photos of his dog, and posts about the Knicks make up recent activity. Perhaps that's because he hasn't felt the need to campaign very hard with a more than 40-point lead.
Possibly feeling the desperation, Rajkumar posted some pretty strange memes about her opponent on Instagram this week.
