What's Up With Those Weird Narendra Modi Birthday Ads on LinkNYC Kiosks?

A mysterious Dubai-based company apparently paid for the ads.

On Wednesday morning, New Yorkers walking around the city encountered the semi-smiling face of the far-right, ethnonationalist Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on LinkNYC kiosk screens and elevator monitors, which was accompanied along with text celebrating Modi's 75th birthday.

"Warm Birthday Wishes to Prime Minister SH. Narendra Modi JI," the ad read, with a footnote that it was paid for by a company called ExH Productions. The same ad was also reported in other major cities around the world, including Amsterdam, London, and Edinburgh
