Hell Gate Is (Again) Growing (Again)

Please welcome Hell Gate's marketing and external relations manager: Rick Paulas.

For nearly three years, our worker-owned publication Hell Gate has covered the entirety of New York City with engaging reportage, witty blog posts, and fierce investigations. Today, we're excited to announce that Hell Gate is once again expanding, this time with an entirely new role focused on increasing readership so we can fund even more high quality local journalism.

Please welcome Hell Gate's marketing and external relations manager: Rick Paulas.

Rick comes to us with a journalist's background. He's worked the freelance hustle for almost two decades, with credits in the New York Times, VICE, Defector, The Awl, and right here at Hell Gate. He's worked at local publications during previous stays in Los Angeles and Oakland, and during that time cultivated a beat covering housing and homelessness throughout urban America.

Rick has also spent his online life shamelessly hawking his various self-published novels and his walking audio ghost story starting at the Pulaski Bridge, which you can still walk and listen to for free (donations suggested). He's currently producing another walking audio story, this one through Prospect Park, with the aid of a Brooklyn Arts Council grant, and produces the lecture series "Greenpoint History Night" at the neighborhood bar Oak & Iron, where he bartends.

Please contact Rick with any ideas you have about potential events, partnerships, advertising opportunities, NYC ghost stories, or ways to get your friends to take the plunge and become a Hell Gate subscriber at rick@hellgatenyc.com
