In my own personal perfect city you would never be more than a block or two away from a decent slice, a well-stocked bodega, or a good cheeseburger (preferably served with some also-good fries). Thankfully, both the pizza and burger gods seem to be cooperating of late in making my dreams come true, with winning new spots cropping up faster than I can stick them on the Hell Gate $20 Dinner map.
The city's latest burger bonanza went down last Friday on the Soho-Nolita border, when two new restaurants opened within about 250 steps from each other: Not a Damn Chance! on Cleveland Place, and Deux Luxe around the corner on Broome.
After trying both, I'm happy to report that both spots are out the gate with good vibes and first-rate burgers, and both make for solid, satisfying options in that often-overpriced part of town. Here's the full scoop.
