This Old-School-Style Italian Sandwich Shop Elevates the Game in Ridgewood

Arrigo's is run by the team behind the excellent restaurant Daphne's in Bed-Stuy.

Like most humans everywhere, chef Paul Cacici and his business partner Gary Fishkop love tucking into large, juicy, delicious sandwiches. And if they're from one of those great old Italian delis? Total heaven.

Cacici, you see, is from Boston's North End, and Fishkop is from Bensonhurst, another traditional Italian stronghold. Which explains Arrigo's, their spanking-new spot sandwich spot on Fresh Pond Road in Ridgewood. "We grew up eating this stuff," Cacici told Hell Gate as we stood inside Arrigo's. "There used to be lots of places like this, but they're kind of a dying breed in New York City today. So we're not trying to reinvent anything here. We're just trying to make the ultimate versions of some of these sandwich classics."
