City Council Speaker: The Adams Administration's New ICE Guidance Is a 'Betrayal of New Yorkers and Our City'

The council's demand for the administration to rescind the guidance comes after Hell Gate reported on the existence of the memo earlier this week.

The leaders of the New York City Council have called on the Adams administration to rescind a memo it sent to City workers that undercuts New York's "sanctuary city" laws.

In a statement issued on Friday afternoon, City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams, along with Deputy Speaker Diana Ayala, and the Council's Immigration Committee Chair Alexa Avilés, called the memo a "​​betrayal of New Yorkers and our city."
