The City Council's resident hatemonger Vickie Paladino scored a massive victory on Monday, when she reached a settlement in her lawsuit against the council alleging her colleagues had curtailed her First Amendment right to post extremely racist shit. The agreement states that the council will withdraw disciplinary charges against her "with prejudice" (ah, beautiful irony), in exchange for her issuing the most half-assed apology of all-time. (The "with prejudice" portion means the council can't bring the charges back.)
"The disciplinary charge against me has been withdrawn and I am withdrawing my lawsuit. To be clear, my personal social media posts were not directed at any council member or staff," reads the statement that Paladino must issue within a 48-hour period that began Monday at 2 p.m., per the settlement agreement. "I am responsible for the content, I never intended to make council members or staff feel unwelcomed or unsafe in their work environment. I send a heartfelt thank you to the court for facilitating the resolution."
