In case you haven't noticed, it's fall. Daylight has been saved; full dark hits before the workday ends. In just a few days, the idyllic stretch of weather we basked in all October will be nothing but a distant memory, little comfort in the face of November's chill. This week's RHONY episode, Season 16, Episode 9, was filmed sometime in the spring. But because it features the cast members wearing scarves and light jackets as they make their windswept way across the city, it feels, somehow, seasonally appropriate.
And I don't know if it's just the approaching holiday season making me more charitable, but this week's episode was also surprisingly nice to watch, given how little actually happened in terms of moving the "plot" of the season forward.
RHONY S16 has been about constructing a plausible friend group of cast members, something the previous two seasons failed at spectacularly. In that regard, despite my grousing, I think this week proved that the project was a success. Finally, after two pretty excruciating years of franchise triaging, it doesn't feel totally random that these women are gossiping with each other over lunch, or attending each others' birthday parties, because most of them seem to have some kind of actual connection to each other.
