Politicians and landlords have been fearmongering about a potential millionaire exodus in New York City since mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani swept the primary with a slate of progressive policies in June, including introducing a new "millionaire tax" that promises to slap a new 2 percent tax on those earning above $1 million annually.
But beyond the bluster, is there any hard data to suggest that the ultra-rich would head for the exit if a Mayor Mamdani convinces the state legislature to make them pay a smidge more?
