The two most powerful elected officials in New York City are sending a message to the governor: It's time to tax the rich and well-to-do businesses.
At a Tuesday morning press conference, Mayor Zohran Mamdani and City Council Speaker Julie Menin told New Yorkers that they were both backing a plan to increase taxes on LLCs and other corporate pass-through entities to raise an additional $1 billion annually for the City and help close the $5 billion budget gap that currently exists.
