This Friday, on the 25th anniversary of 9/11, four former U.S. presidents, Vice President J.D. Vance, and a number of New York politicians, including New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, are set to attend a commemoration ceremony at Ground Zero. (The current president will be at the Pentagon instead, possibly because politicians at the site of the World Trade Center will not be giving speeches.)
It sounds like a fitting tribute to the thousands of people who died at the World Trade Center—until, according to some particularly loud and racist voices in the room, you consider the fact that Mayor Mamdani has the nerve to commemorate 9/11 while also being Muslim.
On Sunday, Rudy Giuliani, the man once known as America's Mayor, now better known for humiliating himself as a Trump lackey and participant in "Borat 2," went on Newsmax to spew Islamophobic hate directed at Mayor Mamdani. "They have every desire to take us over," Giuliani said of Muslims. "This is not just, they want to be another religion. They have every desire to dominate us. That's what they're taught from the day they begin their extremist religious education. Mamdani is a clear supporter of that," he continued.
