A Department of Corrections Investigator helped federal agents arrest an immigrant as he was leaving Rikers Island earlier this year, in clear violation of the City's longstanding sanctuary laws. That's according to a new City Department of Investigation report, which found that the unnamed City employee had "unwittingly" told Immigration and Customs Enforcement where and when a Venezuelan immigrant would be released, so they could tackle him when he exited the bus leaving Rikers Island.
The man, Cristian Concepcion, was then swept up by the Trump administration in the hysteria surrounding Tren de Aragua, and his arrest was trumpeted by the White House on social media. His whereabouts, and whether he remains in ICE custody, are currently unknown.
