There are many things I could have had for dinner last week at the brand new and instantly awesome Good Time Country Buffet, a classic Southern all-you-can-eat situation from David Yun, Steve Choi, and Yong Min Kim. (The trio is behind the also fun and excellent Kisa and C as in Charlie.) Here's an incomplete list:
Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, gravy with sausages in it, Salisbury steak, corn salad, meatloaf, pesto pasta, corn bread, braised cabbage, dinner rolls, penne with red sauce, egg salad, collard greens, baked beans, fried shrimp, macaroni and cheese, cole slaw, Buffalo wings, tuna salad, hush puppies, multiple sorts of green-salad stuff, mixed fruit, banana pudding, peach cobbler, hot fudge so thick it ate almost like pudding.
And, honestly, other than the green salad items, I think I ate almost everything! Three plates worth of remarkably delicious dishes for $27. I should have pushed it and gone back for fourths like my dining companion, Hell Gate's own Chris Robbins, who grew up in Virginia and knows a thing or two about pacing his way through Southern buffet spots. Next time.
