The signs in front of Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory insisted "PUBLIC BATHROOMS ACROSS THE STREET IN BROOKLYN BRIDGE PARK," so it seemed like the shop's managers were just as excited as anyone that the park's Pier 1 Pavilion was completed in April. When I arrived at the pavilion, there were still men at work, cordoning off parts of the plaza with tape. But the bathroom door swung open and a woman exited, so I knew that I would have my chance to see some of the city's newest public bathrooms for myself. I circled around the closed concession stand, past parkgoers resting at metal tables, and entered the men's room.
