New York City's only socialist mayoral candidate just pulled in enough campaign cash to make even the most die-hard capitalists swoon.
Queens State Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani has raised $642,339 in the 80 days since he announced that he was running for mayor in late October, according to his campaign, which shared the numbers with Hell Gate. So far, that's more than any other 2025 mayoral candidate has raised in this amount of time post-launch.
Mamdani's staff says that at least $300,000 of that haul will be eligible for 8-to-1 matching public funds, meaning that his campaign would receive a minimum of $2.4 million in public money, putting his total fundraising for the period at around $3 million.
