The Winners and Losers of the 2025 New York City Mayoral Election

Mamdani's up, Cuomo's down, but where does everyone else stand?

On Tuesday night, after more than 2 million New Yorkers cast their ballots while the rest of the globe watched with bated breath, the results were decisive: Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani is now Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani. Come January 1, Mamdani will take the reins from outgoing Mayor Eric Adams, a leadership transition that will, depending on who you ask, either usher in a new era of affordability and people-centric policy or a USSR-style communist hell.

But now that the dust has begun to clear, it's time to take stock of what really matters: Who's flying high, and who's eating shit. This is Hell Gate's guide to the official winners and losers of the 2025 mayoral election, a blog that's been more than a year in the making. (If you want to see how we were feeling back in June post-primary, take a trip down memory lane here.)
