On Monday, after the heaviest snowfall in a decade, New Yorkers of all ages trudged through almost two feet of snow for work and for pleasure (or, in the case of our own Jessy Edwards, who went sledding for the very first time yesterday, both). New York City's public school students enjoyed their first bonafide snow day under the Mamdani administration, and kids and adults alike broke out their winter gear in the city's parks and snowed-out streets for some awesome feats of skiing, snowboarding, and snow sculpture artistry. If there's still dog shit everywhere, at least you can't see it anymore!
Meanwhile, some delivery workers and rideshare drivers struggled through snowy streets as they resumed their regular schedules; a City snowplow fell victim to a sinkhole; the Parks Department received more than 500 calls about fallen trees brought down by the weight of the snow; and NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch (and a few has-been former elected officials) expressed outrage over video footage of cops getting absolutely pelted with snowballs in Washington Square Park.
