After a week of back and forth between the Adams administration and critics over what City workers should do if federal immigration enforcement officials demand entrance to shelters, hospitals, and schools, the City appears to have finally brought guidance back into compliance with sanctuary laws.
The new guidance, released in a video message Tuesday afternoon by the City's corporation counsel, Muriel Goode-Trufant, tells workers to bar non-local law enforcement from City property unless they have a signed judicial warrant. This reverts the policy back to what it was earlier this year, when presentations explaining the City's sanctuary laws were sent out to the leaders of City agencies in early January.
