There's never a bad time to feast in any of New York City's Chinatowns, but during these Lunar New Year celebration weeks (it's still ongoing—the big parade down Mott Street doesn't happen until Sunday, February 16), the general mood on the streets is even more festive than usual.
Obviously, a long meal involving lots of friends and countless courses at one of the big dim sum palaces is an excellent way to spend an afternoon, or evening, or boozy after-hours. But if you just want to grab something quick, fun, cheap, and delicious in the heart of either of the Chinatowns in Manhattan or Flushing, Queens, the no-frills counters of Longjiang Pork Feet Rice are totally the way to go.

As the name suggests, both Pork Feet Rice locations specialize in exactly that: platters of hacked-up pig feet—dark, sticky, and slightly sweet with soy-based marinade—piled atop a mound of rice. Sometimes feet can be annoying to eat, with too much gnawing and too little to show for your efforts. But fortunately, that's not the case here.
