It's budget day in New York City. In the afternoon, Mayor Zohran Mamdani will reveal his preliminary budget for the first full fiscal year of his mayoralty, which begins on July 1.
And right on time, Mamdani got a little visit from Ol' Saint Hochul, who stuffed his stockings with some much-needed cash if he stays a good little boy this year, and stops demanding she tax all her friends. On President's Day, Hochul announced she'd be sending New York City an additional $1.5 billion over the next two years, cutting down the City's ever–changing budget gap.
