Back in May, Governor Kathy Hochul seemingly convinced President Donald Trump to hold off on canceling the permits for a wind power project off the shores of Long Island. There was one catch, however—in return, Hochul said New York state would "work with the Administration and private entities on new energy projects."
And what would those energy projects be? Not more wind or solar energy, that's for sure. Instead, just 10 days after the meeting, the energy company Williams reapplied for permits for its thrice-denied Northeast Supply Enhancement project, a 37-mile fracked natural gas pipeline supported by the Trump administration that would run from New Jersey through New York Harbor to connect to an existing pipeline near the Rockaways.
